Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics

Lingua: Journal of Linguistics and Language is firmly dedicated to maintaining exemplary publication ethics standards and actively preventing all forms of publication misconduct. Our Editorial Board takes this responsibility very seriously and has zero tolerance for unethical practices. We require all editors, authors, and reviewers to follow good publication practices aligned with the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors. The complete guidelines are available on the COPE website as part of our Core Practices.

Authors and Contributors

  1. Authorship : All authors are expected to have approved the final manuscript and submission process, including obtaining necessary permissions. We don't specify contribution types for authorship and encourage following field-specific guidelines.
  2. Disclosure Requirements: Authors must disclose funding sources, potential conflicts of interest, and ethical approvals, including informed consent for human/animal subjects.
  3. Corresponding Author Role: This author coordinates approvals, manages communications, and ensures material use transparency.
  4. Contribution Transparency: We publish detailed author contribution statements with each manuscript.
  5. Affiliation Policy: Primary affiliation should reflect the research location and remains fixed post-publication.
  6. Authorship Changes: Authors should finalize the author list at submission. Post-submission changes require approval from all authors, with no changes allowed after acceptance.
  7. Author Identification: We recommend using ORCID IDs when submitting or obtaining one during the process.
  8. Deceased/Incapacitated Authors: Including such authors requires legal representative approval.
  9. Confidentiality: All journal communications are confidential unless explicit sharing consent is given.
  10. Authorship Disputes: Authors should resolve these independently. Unresolved disputes may lead to manuscript withdrawal.
  11. AI-Generated Content: AI tools cannot be independent authors. Their use must be clearly described in methods.
  12. Post-Publication Name Changes: We update metadata discreetly to protect privacy.
  13. Journal Staff as Authors: Editors/staff involved in manuscript preparation are excluded from related editorial decisions.
  14. Ethical Responsibilities: Authors must maintain scientific integrity and respect editorial decisions.
  15. Error Correction: Authors must promptly correct significant errors upon discovery.
  16. Reviewer Suggestions: Authors may suggest independent reviewers with appropriate contact details.

Complaints and Appeals

  1. Initial Handling: The Editor-in-Chief or handling editor addresses complaints about decisions, delays, or processes.
  2. Scientific Content Appeals: Editors assess author arguments and reviewer reports to determine if rejections should be upheld or reconsidered.
  3. Process Complaints: The Editor-in-Chief investigates and provides feedback to improve procedures.
  4. Ethics Complaints: Editors follow COPE guidelines and may seek external advice for complex cases.

  1. Research Support: Grants or resources from interested organizations.
  2. Employment/Affiliations: Current, past, or anticipated roles with financial implications.
  3. Other Interests: Financial stakes, patents, and non-financial roles that could influence outcomes.

Non-financial interests that may sway research should also be disclosed.
