Journal Business Model

Journal Business Model

Introduction:

Legalis: Journal of Law Review operates on a free open access model, believing this enhances global accessibility and utilization of research. This model serves professional, academic, and broader communities by removing access barriers.

Article Processing Charges (APC):

To sustain our open access model and cover publication costs (including peer review management, production, hosting, and archiving), we implement an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted articles.

APC Structure:

  • International authors: USD 25
  • Indonesian authors: Rp 350,000

APC Payment Process:

  1. Authors confirm ability to pay at submission.
  2. APC is billed post-acceptance.
  3. Payment doesn't influence the peer review process.
  4. Authors must secure APC funds before submission.

Article Submission Charges (ASC):

Legalis: Journal of Law Review does not charge for article submissions.

APC Waiver Policy:

  1. Authors from low-income countries are exempt from APC.
  2. Corresponding authors with an h-index of 15+ on Scopus or WoS receive an APC waiver.
  3. Reviewers receive a Rp 50,000.00 discount per review.

Rationale for APC:

The APC model allows us to maintain high-quality publication services while keeping content freely accessible. It covers costs associated with:

  • Rigorous peer review process
  • Professional copyediting and typesetting
  • Online hosting and distribution
  • Long-term digital preservation

Transparency:

We are committed to transparency in our pricing and waiver policies. APC rates are clearly communicated to authors before submission, and any changes to our APC structure are announced well in advance.
