Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Digitus: Journal of Computer Science Applications employs a rigorous evaluation process for all submitted manuscripts to ensure high academic quality and originality. We utilize a double-blind peer review system to maintain anonymity between authors and reviewers throughout the assessment.

Our editorial team and reviewers consist of international experts in computer science applications, providing a global perspective for comprehensive manuscript evaluations.

The detailed review process is as follows:

  1. Initial Screening:
    • The Editor-in-Chief conducts a preliminary evaluation of each submission.
    • Manuscripts are checked for alignment with the journal's scope and adherence to basic submission guidelines.
    • Those failing to meet criteria are promptly rejected without further review.
  2. External Expert Assessment:
    • Manuscripts passing initial screening are assigned to a handling editor.
    • The handling editor selects and invites a minimum of two subject matter experts for double-blind peer review.
    • Reviewers are chosen based on their expertise in the specific area of the manuscript.
  3. Review and Decision Process:
    • At least two expert reviews are required before any decision is made.
    • In cases of significant discrepancies between reviews, a third reviewer may be engaged.
    • Based on the collective input, several outcomes are possible:
      1. Rejection of the manuscript
      2. Request for minor revisions
      3. Request for major revisions
      4. Acceptance without changes
      5. Recommendation for resubmission (for substantial content or language modifications)
    • The handling editor synthesizes reviewer feedback and makes a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief.
    • The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision, considering the handling editor's recommendation and consulting with the editorial board if necessary.
  4. Revision Phase:
    • Authors of manuscripts requiring revisions have a three-week window to modify their work.
    • The handling editor reassesses the revised manuscript, determining if changes adequately address reviewers' comments.
    • If revisions are insufficient, this process may be repeated.
    • The handling editor may consult original reviewers to assess the adequacy of revisions.
  5. Final Decision:
    • The revised manuscript faces a binary outcome: acceptance or rejection.
    • The decision is based on whether the manuscript has been improved to meet the journal's publication standards.
    • Manuscripts failing to incorporate necessary changes or falling short of quality benchmarks are rejected.
    • The Editor-in-Chief reviews the handling editor's recommendation and makes the final decision.
  6. Post-Acceptance Process:
    • Accepted manuscripts undergo final formatting and proofreading.
    • Authors are given a last opportunity to check their manuscript before publication.
    • The production team prepares the article for online publication.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • The journal regularly reviews and refines its peer review process based on feedback from authors, reviewers, and editors.
    • Training and guidelines for reviewers are updated to maintain high-quality peer review standards.

This comprehensive peer review process ensures that only high-quality, original research is published in Digitus: Journal of Computer Science Applications, maintaining the journal's academic integrity and reputation in the field of computer science applications.
