Peer Review Process

Peer-Review Process

Renovare: Journal of Renewable Energy, Sustainability, and the Environment follows a rigorous and transparent review process to ensure the quality and credibility of the published articles. The journal adopts a double-blind (double-anonymous) peer-review type, where the identities of both the authors and reviewers are kept anonymous during the review process.

Submission and Initial Evaluation

All manuscripts submitted to Renovare undergo an initial evaluation by the editorial team to assess their suitability and compliance with the journal's scope and guidelines. Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are assigned a unique identification number for further processing. Initial screening will be conducted by the editor-in-chief to ensure conformity to the journal’s focus and submission requirements.

Peer Review

Each eligible manuscript is sent for review to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Reviewers are carefully selected based on their expertise, experience, and prior contributions to the field. Renovare employs a double-blind peer review process to maintain fairness and objectivity in evaluations. In cases where conflicting opinions arise, additional reviewers may be assigned to provide a comprehensive evaluation.

Double-Blind Review

Renovare ensures that the identities of both the authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the peer review process. This helps maintain objectivity and fairness in the evaluation process, minimizing potential biases.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are requested to assess the submitted manuscripts based on their scientific quality, originality, relevance to the journal's scope, clarity of presentation, and adherence to ethical guidelines. Constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement are encouraged to assist the authors in enhancing the quality of their work.

First Decision

A decision on a peer-reviewed manuscript will only be made upon the receipt of at least two review reports. In cases where reports differ significantly, the handling editor will invite an additional reviewer to get a third opinion before making a decision. At this stage, a manuscript can either be rejected, asked for revisions (minor or major), accepted as is, or (if significant changes to the language or content are required) recommended for resubmission for a second review process.

Revision Stage

Manuscripts requiring revisions will be returned to the submitting author, who will have up to three weeks to revise and resubmit. The revised manuscript will then be reviewed by the handling editor to determine whether the changes are adequate and appropriate. If the revisions are deemed insufficient, the manuscript will be returned to the author for further revision, and the cycle will be repeated as necessary.

Review Duration

Renovare strives to provide timely and efficient peer reviews. Reviewers are typically given a specific timeframe to complete their evaluations. Authors will be informed of the estimated review duration during the initial submission or after significant revisions.

Final Decision

At the final stage, the revised manuscript will either be accepted or rejected based on the handling editor's assessment of its quality and relevance to the journal. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision, considering the reviewers' recommendations and the editorial board's input.

Confidentiality

Renovare maintains strict confidentiality of the peer review process. All manuscripts, reviews, and correspondence are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality and not disclose any information about the manuscripts they evaluate.

Review Process Improvement

Renovare is committed to continuously improving its review process. Feedback from authors and reviewers is invaluable in refining the journal’s processes. Constructive suggestions for improving efficiency and fairness are always welcomed.
